Three steps to reinventing yourself.

Ready to reinvent yourself?

We tend to think we are who we are, and that change isn't possible for adults.  That's just not the case.

I often joke with Darren that he's living with Lisa 3.0 because I've changed so much recently (this isn't my first reinvention of myself, though – hence the reason I'm not Lisa 2.0 anymore).  So if you want to make changes to your life, I'm happy to share what I've learned.  So if you are ready to uplevel, change, and reinvent yourself, keep reading.

1.  Get clear on where you are.

If you are ready to make a change, first assess where you currently are.  For weight loss, your current model might look something like this:

Circumstance:  I weigh 225 lbs.

Thought:  I can't lose weight.

Feeling:  Hopeless.

Action:  Eat sweets to feel better emotionally.  Eat large portions out of habit.  Feel to tired and out of shape to go for a walk.  Snack frequently, because supposedly that boosts metabolism(?)

Result:  Don't lose weight.

This may seem a bit grim, but taking an honest look at your current reality helps you see how your thoughts drive your feelings and your actions and then show up in your results.

Before you can reinvent yourself, you need to know where you are today.

2.  Decide where you want to go.

Think forward to the future.  If you had a magic wand and could wake up tomorrow as your future self who had attained the goal, where would she be?  This time we work the model from the bottom up.

 Desired circumstance:  Weight 150 lbs.

Thought:  I can reach my healthy goal weight.

Feeling: Determined.

Action:  Cut out sugar and flour.  Eat lots of fruits and veggies, as they are filling and full of good vitamins and minerals.  Eat reasonable portions of lean protein. Drink more water. Take home half of restaurant meals.  Drink less.  Go to restaurants less.  Intermittent fast by making lunch my first meal and not snacking after dinner.  Stop snacking between meals.  Eat healthy fat for satiety and nutrition. Go on walks most days.  Plan and track my food.  Track my weight. Learn about how my hormones affect my experience and weight.   Get fat adapted. Yoga twice a week for strength, flexibility, and mental health.  Get coached on why I want to over eat.  Allow urges but do not reward them.  Get ThetaHealing so I can clear limiting beliefs and feel better.

Result:  I can reach my healthy goal weight.

While each person's before and after models will be different, this gives you a perfect example of how different thoughts and feelings lead to different actions and results.

3.  Get support.

While of course you should hire me, it's a great idea to get additional support as well.  That might involve recruiting friends and family members to join you on your weight loss journey or hiring other professionals, such as a personal trainer, to work with you toward your goals.  The fact is, we humans are social, tribal creatures, and it's much easier to reinvent yourself when we have support!
